HAIR RESTORATION

Pre Hair Restoration Instructions

  • Avoid Alcohol for a minimum of 24 hours prior to injection.

  • Avoid the use of Ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil), Aspirin, Aleve, Vitamin E, Garlic, Ginseng, Ginko Biloba, Fish Oil, Vitamin A, St.John's wort and/or any other essential fatty acid supplements for a minimum of 10 days prior to treatment as these can increase risk for bruising or bleeding. Please consult your PCP prior to discontinuing any medications.

  • One to two weeks before your procedure, discontinue systematic steroids. At least one month prior to your procedure discontinue steroid injections. Steroids can interfere with healing.

  • Also avoid high sodium foods, high sugar foods, refined carbohydrates, spicy foods, and cigarettes 24-48 hours pre and post procedure, as these can delay healing, and increase risk for bruising and swelling.

  • Please reschedule your appointment at least 24 hours in advance if you develop signs or symptoms of illness such as cold, flu, sold sores, rash, COVID-19, etc. Subject to canellation fee if less than 24 hours notice.

  • You must wait at least 10 days (or until all symptoms have subsided) from a previous cosmetic treatment, such as laser, ultrasound, facial peels, or microdermabrasion.

  • Unfortunately, you are not a candidate if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

  • If possible, please arrive to your scheduled appointment with a clean face, free of lotions, creams, or make-up.

  • If PRP for hair restoration is being performed, Please shower the morning of your treatment and wash your hair very thoroughly using your regular shampoo. Do not apply sprays, gels, or any other styling products to your hair. If you wear a hair system, please remove it prior to shampooing and do not wear it before your PRP treatments. It is ok to bring a clean, loose hat to wear post procedure.

  • Pineapple can be eaten in the days leading up to your appointment as well if you are prone to bruising. It contains an exzyme called bromelain that helps your body reduce pain, bruising, and swelling.

  • Arnica tablets can be taken as directed starting 5 days prior to your appointment to minimize bruising if cleared by your PCP to do so.

  • Please make sure to have a good meal including food and beverage prior to your procedure. This will decrease the chances of dizziness/lightheadedness during your treatment.

  • Please have all required paperwork and consents complete prior to your scheduled appointment time. This will provide us ample time to utilize numbing creams if necessary.

POST Hair Restoration Instructions

  • Adherence to Post Treatment Instruction is Crutial to the outcome of your procedure. If you are unable to comply, please discuss with health care provider.

  • It is normal to experience bruising, redness, itching, swelling, and/or soreness that may last 2-5 days following your procedure.

  • For mild pain or discomfort you may take Tylenol or other Acetaminophen containing products as directed. Avoid the use of NSAIDs such as Advil, Ibuprofen, Aleve, etc. for 7 days.

  • Do not use any hair products for 2 days after your treatment.

  • Avoid applying ice or heat to the injection site for the first 3 days post-procedure.

  • Avoid vigorous exercise, sun and heat exposure for at least 3 days after your treatment.

  • Avoid baths, steam rooms, or sauna for at least 3 days post procedure.

  • Showering is ok 24 hours post procedure, but use mild pH balanced shampoo and minimize time under direct water.

  • Avoid anti-inflammatory medications for at least 4 weeks post procedure. Tylenol is ok for mild discomfort.

  • Avoid consumption of alcohol and caffeine for at least 3 days.

  • Avoid smoking, this can interfere with healing.

  • Avoid blood thinning herbs, supplements, or vitamins for 21 days post-procedure.

  • Please call your provider with any questions or concerns regarding your treatment.

  • Do NOT use social media platforms for communication in regards to your treatment.

  • For urgent matters, contact our office immediately

  • Emergency situations, such as difficulty breathing, shortness of breath, chest pain, please call 911, and then contact your provider.
